Next steps

Thank you to everyone who shared comments during our public consultation, which ran from Wednesday 13 August to Wednesday 3 September 2025.

We are reviewing the feedback we have received from the community, which we are considering as we prepare to finalise and submit a planning application to Woking Borough Council in early autumn.

Once Safestore’s plans are submitted, they will be available to view on the council’s website.

You will also be able to take part in the council’s consultation on proposals on the same website.

Sustainable construction

Safestore is committed to ensuring our buildings are constructed responsibly and their ongoing operation has a minimal impact on local communities and the environment.

Our construction team follows sustainable construction principles and, wherever practicable, we use materials that have recycled content or are from sustainable sources. We monitor the amount of waste and energy usage on every site and introduce efficiencies identified into future building projects.

We design our stores to provide a safe, secure home for our customers' possessions and we build them with consideration given to our people, our customers, our communities, and the environment.
