Next steps
Thank you to everyone who shared comments during our public consultation, which ran from Wednesday 13 August to Wednesday 3 September 2025.
We have made significant changes to our proposals as a result of feedback from the community, which you can read more about on the 'You said, we did' page here.
Following these changes, Safestore has now submitted a planning application to Woking Borough Council.
This application is available to view on the council’s planning portal here (or under the reference PLAN/2025/0745). You will also be able to take part in the council’s consultation on proposals on the same website.
Sustainable construction
Safestore is committed to ensuring our buildings are constructed responsibly and their ongoing operation has a minimal impact on local communities and the environment.
Our construction team follows sustainable construction principles and, wherever practicable, we use materials that have recycled content or are from sustainable sources. We monitor the amount of waste and energy usage on every site and introduce efficiencies identified into future building projects.
We design our stores to provide a safe, secure home for our customers' possessions and we build them with consideration given to our people, our customers, our communities, and the environment.
